Pointer Sisters - Goldmine (The Mixdown Refix)

Pointer Sisters - Goldmine (The Mixdown Refix) by Jules Juke

It's really no secret that I love dance music from the 80's - so many timeless disco, funk, and soul tracks were revolving this earth before I was even born! During the mid-80s The Pointer Sisters were at the height of their career, releasing classics like "Dare Me" and "I'm So Excited." I always see remixes and reworks of these songs, but never "Goldmine," which is such a shame cause I think it can hold its own against its more well known brethren. But now you have no excuse not to drop some Pointer Sisters in your 80s sets, as this refix is plenty good for the dancefloor!

Eli Escobar - Shoulda Let You Go (The Mixdown Moombahton Edit)

Eli Escobar's rework of Keyshia's "Shoulda Let You Go" is so incredibly sexy! Its got this moody, deep house, tropical r&b vibe that makes me want to turn it into sweaty, grinding moombahton! If you like your moombahton with soul, then this is the perfect smanger to unleash at your next underground house party!

Mixdown 018

Sketch Pad
Ghettofunk/Nu Disco/Hip-Hop/House/Mashup

What started off as a Halloween mix was quickly abandoned for a ghettofunk infused, hip-hop heavy, nu disco groovin', clusterfuck. Pretty much everything except for the last track is mashed or re-edited beyond the original sound - and all done live too. I find myself getting sick and tried of all the one-dimensional mixtapes that just blend other people's music without doing anything innovative. This is my answer to that monotony.

Featurecast - Stomp
Lords of the Underground - Psycho (Acapella)
Lostprophets - We Are Godzilla, You Are Japan
House of Pain - Jump Around

Needs More Funk

Among the litter of half schemed mixtapes, this little funk-infused, genre-hopping, dancefloor killer escapes from the unfinished masses. I'm quite happy how it turned out - especially the epic Russ Chimes pre-closer to stomping ghettofunk Rory Lyons edit! Inspired by Midnight Star and the Futurecop! vs 90's RnB mixtape from 2009.

The Mixdown - Rettsu Dansu!
Midnight Star - Two In Love
Roy G and the Biv - Rockin' That Thang
Teenage Bad Girl ft. Rye Rye - X Girl (Alan Braxe Remix)
TLC - Creep (Acapella)
All The Lights - Chasing Colours (Moonchild Remix)
The Knocks - Something I Can Dance To
Erik Morillo vs Eddie Thoneick ft. Shawnee - Live Your Life
Aestetik - Intense Business (Lenno Remix)
Russ Chimes - Tonic
Rory Lyons - Hot Rocks (Krafty Kuts Edit)

Beautician 3.0 (Dillion Francis vs Professor Green)

Moombahton. Girls love it cause they can dance sexy to it. Guys love it cause girls dance sexy to it.

After the first listen of Dillon Francis's Beautician 2.0, I knew right away I needed to put my own spin on it. Being enamored by Professor Green's delivery style, he quickly made my short list of "vocals to mash," but I could not find an acapella to save my life. Thus entered the next 48 hours of my life where I relentlessly hunted down an instrumental and phased that shit within an inch of my sanity. I will probably never have the patience to do it again, but for what it's worth the end result was badass! Grab the free download and let me know if you love it!

Dutty Love (Kingdom ft Nicki Minaj vs Treasure Fingers)

Dutty Love (Kingdom ft Nicki Minaj vs Treasure Fingers) by The Mixdown

Probably one of my favorite party mashups - it blends the perfect amount of mainstream appeal with underground producer talent.

Credit: I stole the original mash from the very badass CJ Milli, so any praise goes her way. This is just my take on it.

Kreayshawn - Gucci Gucci (The Mixdown Refrisk)

Shame is absent from my vocabulary. But you already knew this if you downloaded Lady Antegagum. Kreay Kreay gets the Mixdown treatment.

Also, this track made it on Hype Machine thanks to White Folks Get Crunk. Send it some love!

Moombahton/Tropical Bass/Electro House

This is the kind of mix that happens when I'm bored/semi-apathetic and don't really care to pick my playlists beforehand.  I'd imagine you might heard something like this if you heard me live, mixing 100% on the fly without ANY plan. And honestly? To me it's a little stale - don't get me wrong - the tracklisting is tight and most of the tracks could stand alone as floor bangers, but without anything intricate or clever happening with the transitions, there's nothing that takes this mix to the next level, IMO.

Eh, it's raw, but if you're itching for some new sounds, check it out!

Flore - Raw (Flore's Moombahton Remix)
Munchi - Esta Noche
Datsik - Firepower (Munchi Moombahcore Remix)
Diplo & Dillon Francis - Que Que ft. Maluca
Dillon Francis - Masta Blasta

Crookers & Savage Skulls - Bust 'Em Up
Disco Trash Music ft. Spoek & Big Space - Bumper Cars (DTM's Tropical Edit vs Bit Theif Remix)
CyberSutra - I'm At The Disco (DJ Hero Remix) vs Feed Me - Talk To Me
Teenage Bad Girl - Keep Up With You (Depressed Buttons Remix)
Autodidakt & Ultrnx - Pimp My Life

Words & Pieces (Chase & Status ft Plan B vs Lupe Fiasco)

Words & Pieces (Chase & Status ft Plan B vs Lupe Fiasco) by The Mixdown
My high school classmate Tommy Raymond is also a DJ/producer and he requested I do this mashup after I sent him a link to "Doctor the Waves." There's a bonus "Voodoo People" sample that ratchets this into Level 9 goodness. Check out the download!

Doctor The Waves (Pendulum vs Eminem ft Skylar Grey)

Doctor The Waves (Pendulum vs Eminem ft. Skylar Grey) by The Mixdown

I'm a little behind in updating my archive, but here's a new mashup I did about a month ago. I got my hands on some Pendulum instrumentals and went to town. Personally, I really love the contrast of hip-hop over drum & bass. Slim always conveys so much energy and dynamic in his flow that his verses really stand out over the music. Not to mention Skylar has such an angelic quality to her singing that the chorus in this just soars above everything. Enjoy the free download!
